Making Learning Accessible: How ManpraX Helped Build an LMS for Students with Visual Impairments

In today’s fast-moving digital education landscape, accessibility is still too often an afterthought. At ManpraX, we believe inclusive design should be the starting point — not an upgrade. That’s why we were proud to partner with Vision Empower to build Subodha, an accessible Learning Management System (LMS) designed to support students with visual impairments.

Subodha goes beyond basic usability. It rethinks how learners with disabilities engage with content — especially in complex subjects like science and math — and makes that experience inclusive, audio-first, and regionally relevant. With more than 10 years of experience in EdTech and a track record in LMS development, the ManpraX team led the complete technology build, working closely with Vision Empower to turn accessibility into a platform standard.

What Is Subodha?
S

ubodha is a fully accessible digital learning platform that enables inclusive science and math education for visually impaired students. Created by Vision Empower and developed by ManpraX, it addresses key barriers faced by learners with limited or no vision — from visual navigation issues to a lack of content in regional languages.

Designed to work seamlessly with assistive technologies and regional education needs, Subodha is already making a difference across India.

Key Accessibility Features in Subodha
  • Screen Reader Friendly LMS Interface (WCAG-compliant)
  • TalkBack + Assistive Tech Compatibility for Android and other devices
  • Accessibility Toolbar for low vision and color-blind users
  • Multilingual Support: Available in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and English
  • Audio-First, Tactile Learning Experience designed for STEM subjects
ManpraX’s Role in Bringing Subodha to Life

ManpraX led the full-stack LMS development — from accessible UI/UX design to robust backend architecture and seamless multilingual integration. The team worked directly with end users — students and teachers with visual impairments — to test, improve, and fine-tune the platform for real-world use.

This wasn’t just a build. It was a responsibility to create something that could reach every learner, regardless of how they access information.

Why Accessibility in EdTech Matters

As India’s digital learning sector continues to grow, so does the risk of leaving behind students who don’t fit the “default” user. Platforms like Subodha show what’s possible when accessibility isn’t just added — it’s embedded.

True EdTech innovation isn’t just about AI or analytics. It’s about who gets to learn — and how.
